NOTE: When a name is changed by Staff to "ChangeMe" or altered to conform to the rules, DO NOT start a thread regarding "Why was my name changed". It is not up for discussion. The thread will be removed and depending on the severity/tone a warning issued.

1. You cannot choose a name that has its origins in a copyrighted environment like a brand name, product, or Corporation. Names like "Pepsi", "Coke", "Cheetos" would be unacceptable, but names like "Indiana Jones", "Marry Poppins", "Jack Daniels" would be fine as long as they follow the other rules.
2. You cannot use a name that may reflect, glorify or emulate any real-world group or organization, terrorist society, criminal elements, discriminating organizations or their leaders and figureheads. This includes the use of names of real-world military, political or religious groups.
3. Names that are solely to denote nationality, like "a korean", "Japanese Man", etc, are prohibited.
4. You cannot use a name that is obscene, vulgar, sexually explicit, insulting, offensive, hurtful, harmful, promote drugs, alcohol, profane, anti-gay, slang, and ethnically, racially or sexually offensive (No Porn Star names!) or impart any real-world hostility toward a specific nationality, race or religion.
5. You cannot use a phrase or multiple word names that are strung together without spaces. (e.g. IWantYou, MeSoPretty, IStealYou) Phrases in general are discouraged and will not usually be allowed. Trying to be cute with names like "Peek a boo", "I R Thief", "Terrible Bacon", "Tabasco Sauce", will get you a name change. Just try and use an actual NAME and not something silly and you'll be fine. Is that too hard to ask?
6. You cannot use a name that uses combinations of words that produce an offensive result (e.g. Hugeaz, Tug Mcgroin).
7. You cannot use mixed case names, except to capitalize the beginning of each word. (e.g. MiSteR KooL, DoOmEr, IMA LeeteR, ReVenGe) This includes names considered 'leet-speak' (using z instead of s, etc). You know what we mean! This includes names that are just all uppercase as well. In other words, case must make sense. Just putting an uppercase somewhere in the name (or on the end) is not allowed.
8. The use of courtesy titles such as "Mr. Mrs. Miss Ms. Dr". shall be properly capitalized, punctuated, and a space used after the courtesy title.
9. You cannot use a name that may impersonate or parody an NPC Vendor, like "Josh the banker", "Max the butcher", etc. Names like "a cow", "llama" are ok.
10. Names specifically for BOD collecting like "Bod Man One", "Runner two", etc, are OKAY, however you should refrain from using them for "normal" play and keep their interaction and bank appearances to a minimum. A "bod runner" type name found being used as a playing character may be subject to the naming rules.
11. You cannot use a name that may impersonate or parody any Staff name. (e.g. Warlocke, Roadkill, Snicker, CEO, and others...)

For all of the above, foreign spellings, misspellings and alternative spellings of a word or words are also unacceptable.

In addition, any name that is causing general unrest or disturbance or appears that it might, may be removed. Any name for whatever reason may be changed if an Alexandria Staff person deem it necessary.

The age of your account/character or the argument of "I've had it for ages" is not an acceptable excuse. Staff members do not always go around looking for name violations, but when one is brought to our attention it is subject to the above rules.

Names of characters before the date of this post (Sep 06, 2007 that violate these rules may be given a waiver, but in no case will this waiver be construed as making that name, or similar names, allowable or acceptable for future players. Simply pointing out the name of existing player as an excuse for an unacceptable name will not be considered a valid argument.

If your name is judged inappropriate by Alexandria Staff, it will be changed. You will be asked to select an appropriate name. If you cannot or will not do so, a staff member will select a name on your behalf and change it. Once an acceptable name is chosen you WILL NOT be able to change it later. To save time, Staff may change your name to "ChangeMe". If you find your name changed, page with a more appropriate name and a Staff member will change it to that if it's within the rules. If you do not page within 72 hours or your page is arguing with Staff a name will be chosen for you and you will not be able to change it again.

Blatantly offensive names will not be eligible for a name change. These characters and their assets will be immediately deleted upon discovery and disciplinary action may be taken against the player’s account.

We do encourage you to do a little research and pick a name based on historical people. It's amazing what Google will turn up for "animal tamers", "famous thiefs", "ninja names", etc!

This FAQ also applies to Guild names or anything that can be named by a player (IE Houses, etc).
